In August, Retail Sales Of Clothing And Footwear Decreased By 0.1% In The Euro Area.

Xinhua Brussels, October, 3 (reporter Shang Jun) data released by the European Union Statistics Bureau showed that retail sales in the euro area edged up 0.1% in August, up 1% from the same period last year, according to data released by the European Union Statistics Bureau on 3.

This growth rate has slowed down compared with the previous month.

The revised figures released by the European Union Statistics Bureau showed that retail sales in the euro area increased by 0.4% on a monthly basis in July this year, an annual increase of 1.3%.

Compared with July, retail sales of "food, beverage and tobacco" commodities in the 13 countries of the euro area increased by 0.2% in August, while the retail sales of non food commodities including textiles, clothing, footwear and daily necessities decreased by 0.1%.

As the largest economy in the euro area, Germany's retail sales in August showed a larger decline, down 1.4% from the previous month.

Data also showed that retail sales in the 27 EU countries increased by 0.3% in August compared with July, an annual increase of 2.6%.
