The Competitiveness Of Vietnam'S Textile And Garment Factories Is Seriously Tested.
According to Fang Rong, vice chairman of Vietnam textile and Garment Association (Dang Phuong Dung), at present, there are 3000 companies in Vietnam's textile and garment factories. In order to enhance the competitiveness of Vietnam's textile industry, cooperation among various companies should be strengthened and the quality of products improved.
As for the third quarter of this year (2011), Vietnam's textile and garment exports amounted to about US $11 billion 700 million, with an estimated total export value of 130~135 billion.
As Vietnam's textile and garment industry produces most of the main and auxiliary materials imported, and the amount of imports accounts for 60% of the total export volume of the industry, the value added to Vietnam's textile and garment industry is not high.
Recently, the competitiveness of textile and garment factories has been severely tested due to unfavorable factors such as rising labor wages, poor quality of main and secondary materials, poor product design and poor performance in marketing.
Le Quoc An, Vietnam's textile and Garment Association, said that wages of Vietnamese textile workers have risen to $200 / month in recent years, and that they will rise to 500 dollars / month in the next 3 years, which seriously affects the operation and production of operators.
According to Mr.Andrew Hong, Secretary General of the ASEAN Textile Association (Aftex), the cutting and sewing section accounts for only 6% of the garment production process, and the other 94% departments are the administrative work of cloth production, design, marketing, sample production and processing orders. The more business is to enhance and improve the production model so as to improve the added value of the garment industry. It includes more information exchange between the fabric factories, garment factories and consumers, and the Source ASean Full Service Alliance (SAFSA) plan.
